Membership Levels

PCFC offers the following four levels of membership:

  • Flying Member
  • Student Member
  • Social Member
  • Junior Member

Flying Members

Flying members must have a minimum of a Recreational Pilot Licence (or equivalent).

Flying members may hire PCFC aircraft after either meeting the minimum hours on-type requirement for the aircraft being hired or having been assessed by an appropriate member as being safe on the type of aircraft being hired.

Further, flying members may be members of the PCFC committee and have full voting rights.

Spouses of flying members are entitled to join the club for a nominal fee of $10 per year (which includes a base pass if requested), and children (16 years and younger) of flying members are entitled to complementary junior membership.

Student Members

As the name suggests, student members are those that are learning to fly from the clubhouse (flight training is provided through a third party flying school not related to the club).

Student members reaching RPL or above wishing to hire club aircraft are required to upgrade to full flying membership.

Social Members

Social members are those members that are not yet students or do not intend to obtain a flying licence but wish to gather and converse with other club members in the field of aviation.

Social members can be a member of the committee but do not have full voting rights.

Junior Members

Junior members are 16 years of age or younger.

Membership Fees

Membership fees to 30 June 2017 are as follows:

Flying Member: $100.00 (plus $50 joining fee)
Student Member: $50.00
Social Member: $25.00
Junior Member: $15.00

Flying members joining through the year are entitled to a slight discount on annual fees, and those joining after March will also require to pay the next year's fee in advance.

How do I apply for membership?

To apply for membership simply click on this Application Form link.

You will be presented with an application form in Adobe pdf to complete.  Once you have completed the form, mail it to the address on the bottom of the form.

Our secretary will then present your application form at next committee meeting for ratification.

You will then be notified of the committee's decision and advised of the steps that need to be taken for you to gain access to the club house.

If you have any questions regarding membership, please email the club.  We will respond to your email promptly.

How to apply/renew base pass (financial members)

The process to apply for/renew your base pass is set out below.

  • Download the excel sheet linked here.
  • Comments are provided to assist in column D of the spread sheet - please delete this column before finalising and submitting the form.
  • Most members use their drivers' licence as their primary ID - this is the preferred method.
  • If you require out of hours access and/or escort privileges attached to your pass, you will have to provide a copy of your ASIC or a police check dated not more than three months prior to the application.  You will also have to justify why this is required (e.g. access to the aircraft outside of normal base hours/escorting passengers to and from the club house/aircraft etc.).
  • Save the sheet in the format FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME.
  • Email your completed form, together with a copy of your primary ID and ASIC/police check (if applicable) to
  • The Club will review the application and submit it to Defence.  Defence will process your application and pass it to the pass office at Laverton for issue.  You will receive an email when the form has been passed to Laverton, when you can call Laverton to make an appointment (9256 2800).
  • Please note that Laverton will not allow you to make an appointment until they have physically printed out the paperwork - it can therefore take a day or two after the paperwork being sent to Laverton before they will make your appointment.
  • Appointments are available Monday to Friday, generally between 10am and 12 noon.  Remember to take your primary ID to the appointment.

The club member that has volunteered to assist members with processing base passes will deal with your request as soon as possible.  Please remember that this is done on a completely voluntary basis and can sometimes take a while to process with the volunteers helping as best they can while juggling other life commitments.  Remember - any of our members can volunteer to help with club admin tasks!

Any queries - please email or speak to any of the committee.  Pass applications can also be completed on any of the club's event days (e.g. BBQs etc.).
